78% cacao
Serendipity find on a shelf with jars of sauerkraut in the discount/grocery variety store, $2, a deal. Tucked away in my pantry and forgotten about, found again with sweet serendipity, just when needed the most. Hadn't read the beautiful description before buying, just that it was reasonably sourced, and contained no milk. It is.. all of that and then some...delicious.

This, bottle of red
Given to me the beginning of April. Opened for a soiree with my sister dear sister D., long time coming, last Friday eve, but not poured. She brought champagne, we drank it. Used a few splashes for cooking through the week, finally poured a glass. It's delightfully rich, and not too sweet, with a berry tart ..easy to drink but sufficiently complex table wine. Thank you, my friend Lisa, for gifting me with a nice way to wind down my night. This night.

Ceylon, fine tea blended in France
One of the two last remaining green glass cups and saucers. Both saucers chipped, but still a treat to drink my tea from.

These are toothy, with a base of whole oats, oat flour, almond butter, and apricot/pear/squash puree, etc.
I am satisfied.

To St. Patrick!
Made with a gf home mixed flour and starch combo, flax meal, dairy free butter substitute, almond milk, egg. I think I may have accidentally put in a tad too much xanthan..but, it is still tasty and a mostly successful Irish soda bread.

Not my dad's hash
After my mom died this was one of my dad's favorite meals to prepare. Made with ground beef or sometimes pork and or veal and I am certain canned vegetables.. even canned potatoes. I don't know why but my dad loved those little round canned potatoes. Reasonably quick; as long as it took to cook up some ground meat and throw vegetables in a pan with mustard and ketchup and sometimes chili sauce.
This concoction isn't far from that truth. Frozen peas and corn. Fresh potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic. And where his was mostly ground meat this is mostly vegetable. Tomato paste, Polish mustard, cayenne pepper, assorted green herbs and celery seed. A shot of Red Rooster at the table.

Red wine stains, act I
The original full glass, my supper a french bread pizza with not a stitch of real french bread, nor a smidgen of creamy fesh mozzerella. The bread from Three Bakers here in PA made this the satisfying and delicious, best pizza I have had since having to ditch the gluten,
& sadly sadly sadly give up dairy
:'( It held up to olive oil, sliced garlic, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes, spinach and daiya provolone slices. Absolutely, give it a try. With any of your favorite toppings. Ahhhhhhhh
Swallow of wine
A swallow of wine left in the glass on the table from last night, I took it and set the glass down here. Came back a few minutes later and snapped a few, the red wine stain drips on the glass, in the light....
Do you see the eye?

Marushka
dark my mother, dark she was
dark as night
dark as sky eclipse at day
I think she
smiled & pierced the air around with light
infused with merriment
that only dark of night could penetrate
& only dark & light assimilate the wish of both
to consummate, the struggle
oh, the need so great
the light, ecstatic laughs
the dark, a weight
the night
so dark
my mother light.
dark mother, dark.
dark mother ,bright.
